Update: Tuesday 7th April

The school office will be closed from 3pm this evening and will reopen on Thursday 16th April.  In case of emergency please ring 07957300031.  The school twitter feed will be updated thoughout Holy Week with things to do, please follow@St_John_Bosco to keep in touch.

We have applied for e-vouchers for our Free School Meal families but there is a delay (backlog) in them being sent out by the company commissioned by the Government to do the work.  In the meantime there is the potential for online fraud.  If you submitted your email address for free school meal vouchers the email will come from noreply@edenred.co.uk  and will look like this.....  You WILL NOT be asked for your bank details.

Wishing all our families a happy, safe and Holy Easter.

Love Mrs Johnson

Monday 6th April

Good morning, I hope you are all well and safe.  We have a number of learning packs still in the school foyer belonging to children who were self isolating before school closed.  Please could parents come round and collect them before 3pm either today or tomorrow.  Walking to the school door could be your daily exercise!  Please keep an eye on the school twitter @St_John_Bosco as this is updated regularly with interesting things for the children.

Missing you all!

Mrs Johnson

Friday 3rd April Update:

I hope you are all safe and well.  The Home Learning page now has learning projects for the next two weeks.  Some of this time falls within what would have been our Easter Break.  There is no expectation that you would ask the children to work over the holidays but I know that some children benefit from the structure and routine of having tasks to do so the learning projects are available should you want to use them.

Take care,

Mrs Johnson

Wednesday 1st April 9am

We have now recieved guidance from the government about provision for free school meals (this replaces all previous guidance).  In order apply for your free school meal vouchers we need your email address.   We aim to get this scheme up and running by Monday 6th so please send us your email addresses as soon as possible in order for us to process the scheme.  Please note:  This scheme is for those in receipt of free school meals because of low income.  It is not for those in Reception, Year1 and Year 2 who get universal free school meals.

What you need to do now:

  • Email us as soon as possible so we can register you on the government website.  Please email us at contact@st-johnbosco.manchester.sch.uk putting the title "FSM" in the subject header
  • Read the Free School Meals FAQ by clicking here.
  • Don't ring us to ask about it - we're going as fast as we can and will let you know the next steps when they are ready.
  • Stay safe and happy!

Thank you for your support.

Be aware of scam emails

The DfE (Department for Education)  have been informed that some parents have received an email stating the following: ‘As schools will be closing, if you’re entitled to free school meals, please send your bank details and we’ll make sure you’re supported’.

DfE have confirmed that this is a scam email and is not official. We urge you to inform parents that if you receive any emails like this, please do not respond, and delete it immediately.
