In 2022, we proudly introduced the ‘Caritas Social Teaching Award,’ designed to highlight exemplary efforts in embodying compassion and love in action. This accolade will commend a deserving member of our community, whether it be a staff member, student, family, or collective, for their outstanding contributions.

At St John Bosco’s, we celebrate the essence of faith in action by recognizing a staff member, child or group of children each half term for their commitment to ‘putting their faith into action.’

As Bishop John once said, “The measure of our love is not the service we render but the love we put into it.” ‘Caritas in Action’ is a testament to the values which are important in the Salford Diocese, serving as a response to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching..

We are thrilled to honour Margaret as our Love in Action Award recipient! 💖 Her unwavering dedication to our community and her commitment to empowering young people with essential life skills is truly inspiring.

July 2024 - Mrs. Pearson (Deputy Headteacher) Mrs. Pearson was awarded this award for her extraordinary dedication to fostering a spirit of love, compassion, and service within our school community. She has truly exemplified the values of Caritas, making a meaningful difference in the lives of our children and their families. We are incredibly proud and grateful for her inspiring leadership and unwavering commitment to the greater good.

Congratulations to Sarah and Lola on being awarded the Caritas in Action Award! Nominated by their teachers, they embody the true spirit of love and compassion by consistently going the extra mile to support our younger pupils. Their daily acts of kindness and unwavering willingness to help others serve as an inspiration to all. In November 2022, our incredible Caritas Ambassadors launched the Caritas in Action Award, sharing its purpose and the values it upholds with the entire school. They guided our community in understanding how to achieve this meaningful recognition.

In a heartwarming surprise at the end of assembly, Mr. McNulty celebrated the Ambassadors’ remarkable efforts by awarding them for their dedication to supporting those most in need. Their compassionate initiatives have included organizing a Harvest Food Competition between classes, with all contributions generously donated to a local food bank. They have also gone above and beyond to support St. Joseph’s Penny, and some of our ambassadors have even brought joy to others by singing in care homes.

These selfless acts reflect their commitment to living out the values of Caritas every day. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and the example they set for our entire school community.
